Major disruption to Warsaw airport schedule in SeptemberAir traffic at Warsaw's Frederic Chopin Airport will be severely disrupted in three weekends in September due to runway renovation.
Work on the runways will commence on September 4th, 5th, 11th and 18th, but flight schedules will also be affected on the 3rd, 6th, 10th, 12th, 17th and 19th of September.
As a result of the reconstruction, only a shortened runway section of 1300 m will be available for arrivals and departures in the first three weekends of September. The shorter runway section will facilitate movements of small passenger aircraft only.
Some flights for Embraer 145, 170 and 175 and Boeing 737s, scheduled for the first three weekends of September, will be cancelled and air traffic will be diverted to other Polish airports. Because transatlantic flights will not be possible during the rennovation, additional flights to New York, Chicago and Toronto will be available from the northern city of Gdansk and the southern cities of Krakow, Katowice and Rzeszow.
Polish Airlines LOT and travel agencies assure that they will keep informing passengers about changes in flight schedules.
